  I contacted Shafer Heating and Cooling due to their outstanding reputation. After making contact and finding out they were booked a couple weeks out Barbara said, they would come and take a look as soon as possible. The following day Shane and his father came by on what I believe was their lunch break. They were able to diagnose the problem and actually fix it right on the spot! Great company and great people!!! I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of heating or A/C needs.

  We had Shafer Heating out to inspect and repair 2 gas fireplaces that had obviously never been cared for over the 20 year history of our newly purchased home. Bud was fantastic. On time. Careful about our home with blankets and booties. He was friendly, kind, and professional. Within minutes he identified the critical issues, showed me exactly where the problems were, explained what he could do/would do, gave me options, explained where extra cost would be involved. He was able to ascertain where there were electrical errors (and how to adjust, rewire, correct), and what merely needed cleaning--so that the fireplace fan was significantly quieter when he was done. When he was finished, we were abundantly pleased with the result--not just the proper functioning of gas jets, but the placement of logs and adjusting of the flame to make it all look natural. On top of that, he left the fireplace glass and his workspace spotless. A second thing we had him look at was a ceiling heat/AC register that had no air coming out. He took his time, gradually, logically narrowing to the problem. When every other possibility had been eliminated, he took a sheet of printer paper, placed it over the register opening and found that it was sucking air in rather than blowing it out. And thus, we know where the next repair will need to happen--it was connected to an air intake instead of air exhaust. Again, working with Bud was a pleasure, both for his gracious, light-hearted personality and for his professional confidence and competence.

  Had my propane fireplace ignition system replaced, and everything cleaned. Great job! Everything put back, the room was immaculate when Steve left. I’m delighted to have use of the fireplace, and good to know it’s all safe and ready for use.
