  I am new to the area and read the previous reviews about fees for digging. I will be honest and say that it had me a little concerned to begin with and I called and spoke with several members of the J&J team prior to them arriving at the new home that I was purchasing. It is true that they do not want to give you a price over the phone for the digging fees and I can honestly understand this due to J&J not being able to see the conditions and not wanting to have an upset customer. With that said Sheldon arrived at the site and probed for the septic and it was deeper than 1 ft. One tank lid was approx 18" the other was 24". He disclosed the additional cost to dig and I asked if I could quickly dig it myself while he assembled his gear. He had no issue with this as long as it didn't slow him down. While digging Sheldon was chatting and found out that he was prior military and we are a military family as well. He couldn't stand to watch me work alone and picked up an extra shovel and helped me finish the hole. I could not believe how generous he was and how professional he was. I would hope J&J keeps this young man gainfully employed and I would not hesitate to hire them again or recommend this company to my family and friends.

  There are definitely other companies in the area that will perform a service at a lower price, but in my experience with some of the others I used before J & J, the old adage 'you get what you pay for' rings true. Everyone I came in contact with at J & J was incredibly courteous and professional. First and foremost, Tyler was the technician that helped me today, and most definitely went above and beyond what my expectations were. From my initial phone call to the time their truck pulled into my driveway was under an hour. I didn't encounter and hidden additional fees or any extra charges I wasn't made aware of when I called. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because pricing was high compared to other companies in the area.

  I just had the worst experience with J &J. The phone person was kind and gave me a quote of $350. They told me there was a $50 dollar fee to find the lid. When the technician came out he quickly found the lid and told me that with the digging which was 18 inches and removing the sludge from the top of the tank it would be $850. They had never seen my tank or if there was sludge. I told them it was unfair not to tell me about those charges up front but they refused to do it for the agreed upon price. I would have gladly paid extra for the digging but they insisted on me paying a $99.00 service charge. Very dishonest. They may do good work but you will pay an arm and a leg. I called their competitor Rose septic and they have no hidden fees. The digging will be $100.00 and the pumping will be $375. Thank you Rose.
