I usually don’t leave reviews, but feel like I must. I’ve had Water Doctor at my house to fix my water softener twice in the last 8 months. I noticed that we were getting a lot of scale and iron buildup, most visible in the toilets. They came out, and replaced a part that they said was clogged with mineral deposits. That was in June 2019. I paid them $230.00, and then cleaned all the buildup and stains off of my toilets, shower stalls, and sinks. A couple of months later I checked the salt level, and found that it hadn’t gone down since I filled it after the repair. I cycled the system manually, saw that it did fill the brine tank, and figured that I must have had the salt tank more full than I had thought. I waited a few more months and checked the salt level again, and it hadn’t gone down. Also I was again getting significant scale and iron staining again. This time I called Water Doctor and told them the system wasn’t working. They came out again, gave me the same diagnosis, replaced the same part, and sent me a bill for $219.60. The difference this time is that I monitored the system, and it never did work after being “fixed”. When I called them and explained that it still wasn’t working, they gave me a couple of options: 1) rebuild the system at an unknown cost, or 2) replace it with a new system at a cost of about $1,300. He did offer to give me a credit towards the new system - $115.40, the cost of the part he had installed. So I’m out $450 and don’t have a working system, and my alternatives are to sign a blank check to rebuild my current system, or pay $1,300 to replace it. Water Doctor will never set foot in my house again.

Sorry for your frustration. We understand how that can be when you have well water with an iron substance coming through. Although our water softeners will remove some types of iron, yours is shooting debris and clogging up some of the mechanical parts of the unit. As noted, we were called to repair your unit again in December to find the same part was filled with iron. We explained that continuing to replace the part is not taking care of the problem water, and would continue to clog up the parts. As your unit is approximately 20 years old, we recommended to you an iron water treatment unit which could handle your type of water conditions or rebuild yours accordingly. As we explained, we would refund you the parts if you purchased an iron removing unit within the month, knowing the part would also be of no value after used. Or if we rebuilt, we would have to go through the unit to see what all would be needed to upgrade it and then give you a price. I have tried to call you several times regarding this matter. All ever paid us is for service done in June, NOT as stated of $450. We know that folks can be irritated that their water is not clean, and sometimes we end up blamed. We have done our best to service your home with honesty and integrity with great equipment for a bargain price. Nor can we be the reason that you have bad water.
