Our serviceman, Andy, spent a long time going through our aging system. He was on time, courteous, thorough, answered all my questions…in short everything you expect and hope for in a semi-annual maintenance call. We have been pleased with Waccamaw Heating & Cooling since we purchased our Trane units 14 years ago, and their service people have always been very professional.

In June 2021 there was an issue with the air conditioning unit and we contacted Waccamaw Heating & Cooling service. A technician arrived, looked at the thermostat and deemed the unit to be operational. At this juncture, I had this property rented out for a wedding. The weather was very hot and keeping cool conditions for the guests was imperative. Suffice it to say , the first visit by their technician yielded no results as the unit was still not properly cooling and remained hot. Nevertheless, we were left with an emergency service invoice. We subsequently called the service a second time and they came out, once again, looked at the thermostat and determined the unit was cooling properly. However, a second emergency service invoice was left once again. We reached to the service company for the third time, which once again yielded the same result as before; unit was not cooling and another emergency service invoice was left. After this final and third attempt, we had decided to inspect this unit ourselves and found, although the cooling unit was working it was not attached to the to the cooling duct and thus not circulating the air throughout the property and only cooling the attic. This is astounding that a professional service repair, on 3 separate occasions did not bother/could not detect such a simple and obvious cause of malfunction as the aforementioned. This company has cost my business thousands of dollars and many more headaches as well as lost customers . I would try to avoid them at all costs.

      Response from the owner

Hey there Mr. Palagiewicz as we discuss prior I believe there is some confusion here, maybe due to the language barrier. As you know we flagged your account as a "Do not service" back in February due to your refusal to pay for the replacement of a circuit board. You stated you didn't feel that you should pay labor because the parts was under warranty. However; as you are also aware we did not install your equipment and therefore can not offer any labor warranty. On May 23rd you property manager asked us to come out and look at your equipment and not to speak to you because, and I quote, "do not contact Jerry because we do not want the tech to have a bad day". Against better judgement the our staff scheduled a technician to visit your home only to assist the tenant and the property manager. We arrived at the home on May 23rd and cleared a clogged drain line. On this day the thermostat was set and SATISFIED at 71 degrees. Once we cleared the blocked drain everything was operating correctly. At no time have we ever inspected, or touched your duct system. The picture you have attached seems to be from your other company you had perform a duct alteration. It looks like it's a duct alteration in progress. In this picture there are multiple nylon duct straps cut. These Woven Polypropylene Hanging Straps have high tensile strength of 400 lbs. minimum and 460 lbs. maximum, and is both abrasion and chemical resistant. However; this strap is easy to cut. That ductwork probably does not weight 400lbs in total and there are many straps in your picture. In addition, if the ductboard trunk line had broken naturally there would be tape, insulation, and jagged edges at the breaking point. This pictures shows a nice smooth cut edge. Also, you can see where several supply lines have been removed from the trunk. We can't imagine a scenario where the supply lines would fall off at the same time as the trunk breaking in half. This clearly seems to be a duct alteration in progress. With that said, I would be willing to meet you at the home to review everything in person if you like. As I stated before I believe you have the wrong company as we have not performed any work on your duct system. Thanks, Chris Gormley

We have a new home, however, the HVAC zoning leaves some areas cold in winter and hot in summer. Original HVAC installer did not offer a solution, therefore I called Waccamaw Heating and Cooling. The service tech came out the next day. We made a plan to re-evaluate the zoning needs, then decide what to do. No work has been done but I am pleased with their initial responsiveness.
