These guys are not good at their job. They spent several hours working on my fryer because they could not do a simple task. After several hours they left without the fryer working. Another company came in and got the fryer working in 15 minutes. The second guy noticed a wire was hooked up wrong. He wired it correctly and got it working. I waisted a lot of money with Thompson Mechanical.

Spent an hour and 45 minutes working on an ice machine of ours. Also, the guy they sent complained about his job the whole time. They tried to charge us for 3.5 hours and mileage. I could understand 2 hours and mileage. They only knocked off half an hour. I'd avoid these guys, unprofessional.
Response from the owner
Mr. Lykins (605-268-1991) at Camp Dakota Sonshine on Enemy Swim Lake, As I've tried explaining on several telephone conversations, we charge labor (by the hour) from the time we leave our shop in Watertown until we arrive back to our shop in Watertown. In addition, we also charge mileage (by the mile) from Watertown until we arrive back to Watertown. Your location is on Enemy Swim Lake which is 120-miles (2-hour) round trip. Our mileage rate/fee includes fuel and vehicle related expenses only , which means there is no travel-time/labor built into the mileage surcharge. You were charged 3.5 hours plus mileage/fuel surcharge to drive to your location, service & repair your ice machine, & service your noisy 2-door cooler , as you requested. We split the mileage (120-miles) and travel time (2-hrs) with another area customer, which deducted 60-miles & 1-hour off your bill, saving you money. Your invoice was sent to you on 6/13/17 , and as of today (2-months later) still has not been paid, even by a portion. We've offered to deduct 1/2-hour off your bill just to appease you , but it would seem as though you are being very unreasonable and as if you are intending on not paying your bill altogether. However, you and I both know that the work was performed, the ice machine IS working now, the 2-door cooler DID get serviced, and the $334.56 invoice we sent was FAIR and REASONABLE for the work performed and mileage traveled, and has been repeatedly explained thoroughly! You will have a tough time finding another contractor that will drive to your location and perform the QUALITY & TIMELY work that we performed for you , for less money! But, I guess it's your choice to burn bridges . I'm sorry if you don't see the value in the QUALITY & TIMELY service we performed on your behalf. - Thompson Mechanical, Inc.

Had a small AC job done after checking on cost. Surprised that the bill was almost double what was told to me. Make sure you get a written bid.
Response from the owner
Mr. Ottenbacher, We are sorry for the misunderstanding on costs. We told you it would be $80 to service your central a/c and let you know what it would take to repair it. After measuring, inspecting, and troubleshooting your central a/c system , it was determined that your system was low on refrigerant. At which point we informed you of the problem and you approved the additional repair fees to have your system charged with refrigerant. You were only invoiced $156.00 for refrigerant charging + $80 for troubleshooting w/ site travel to and from our shop = $236.00 + tax. If you purchase a new central a/c, it will use the new R410a refrigerant, which costs less. The old refrigerant R22 is being phased out by the EPA and therefore costs more due to production cuts, and unfortunately that is the type of refrigerant that your old central a/c system takes.
