If you don't take the time to read any further, know that Mr. Clement is neither diligent nor dependable; he cut corners, including skipping critical installation procedures. Moreover, he took advantage of my trust by drinking on the job. NOTE: His license was not renewed in 2020, which he claimed was due to COVID closures, however in hindsight becomes questionable. On the day he initially set for the install, he did not come or call. On his way the next day "<The GPS> says 40 minutes", then he eventually shows up over 2 hrs. later. After pulling out the old heater & being gone for over an hour to the home center (3.0 mi./10 min. per Mapquest) to obtain just two connectors*, he returned smelling of alcohol saying he needed something else that did not occur to him until then (standard set-up, which he had looked at beforehand). On his way out the door, he informed me he also needed to pick up a new drainpipe he had broken earlier. This time he was gone for over an hour. He told me twice he would be back the following morning at 9 a.m. In the meantime, I found that he had set the new water heater in the wet drain pan the day before, disregarding towel placed on top of old heater (also left a trail of rusty drips across the kitchen flooring & freshly-stained stoop, & patio). When he finally showed up the following day with his soldering equipment at 12:51 p.m. (4 hrs. past the specified time, after having supposedly just come from the store, plus I'd left him a reminder re: forgotten drainpipe), he still did not have the pipe, necessitating yet another trip to the store for the replacement. He again had alcohol on his breath. When Mr. Clement announced he was finished, he led me to a sink, turned the water on, said it should have had time to heat up but since it wasn't hot wrongly assumed the hot water valve was shut off, handed me the incorrect bill**, & rushed me to pay him, allowing me no time to see the water heater. Concentrating on tallying the correct hours & hurrying to write out his check, I did not realize the way he had left things until he drove off. He would not answer his phone or respond afterward. The vent pipe was miscut, thus instead of being pulled all the way down on the "chimney", on the side not facing/visible from in front of the water heater it was resting on the lip-- not down far enough for the hose connector to clamp it on tightly. Furthermore, Mr. Clement neither sealed the internal & external vent pipes with the high-temperature silicone nor secured them with the screws provided- which he hid from me by taking them with him. I was appalled to discover that in addition he left a 1/4-in. gap around the terminal end of the vent pipe penetration, where I could see straight through the interior drywall to the siding (& feel the cold outdoor air coming through). He also left the screws propped in the holes of the trim plate dangling from the wall. Likewise, he did not re-seal around the drain penetration through the floor left open to the crawlspace! Consequently, I eventually ended up having to have another plumber come in behind him to finish the job because Mr. Clement had not properly pulled the vent pipe down fully onto the flue/manifold-- on a GAS water heater: CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING RISK!! The plumber from the reputable company (the one that leaves customers smiling) cautioned me to "keep an eye out for water leaks", explaining that he would have used more solder at the fittings than Mr. Clement had. *[Despite having formerly agreed to "hard pipe it", he tried to talk me into using flex connectors (i.e. shark bites), got upset at me for "making things more complicated than they need to be"-- then admitted that he had not even brought his soldering torch.] **[On top of his poor work ethic & careless job, Mr. Clement inflated his hours, figuring he "must have been here" nearly double the actual time spent. I marked down the times he left & resumed work (consistent with both other plumbers' & Mr. Clement's own estimate of the timeframe for the job).] Bottom line: *DO NOT HIRE this man*

won't let me give negative stars!!!! NEVER GIVE MARK ANY OF YOUR MONEY. HE TOOK OVER $400 FROM ME (he gave me a sob story and convinced me to pre-pay him for supplies, etc. since he was my neighbor, I trusted he was good for the work) AND NEVER DID ANY OF THE WORK. HE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME AND MY NEIGHBOR (both single women at the time). HE'S AN AWFUL PERSON, DO NOT TRUST HIM!!!!!!
