I have used RA Gray in the past and have had a number of issues with them both in service and billing. I will say upfront they are pleasant people and have always been on-time and highly communicative. Last year I hired them to clean my convector units in two condo units I own in the same complex at a quoted price of 60.00 per unit (5 units total). The purpose of the maintenance and cleaning is to make sure the units are functioning properly and most importantly that the condensate lines are clear as backups can be an issue. Within 3 days of the "maintenance" my condensate line backed up and flooded my carpet. When I called RA Gray to return to fix the problem I was charged again for the service. When I spoke to the owner/manager I was told that cleaning the condensate line was not a part of the maintenance and they would not refund my money even though the words "condensate line cleaning" was clearly written on my original invoice. I let the issue go This year I hired them again and while I paid 60.00/unit last year I foolishly did not ask for an estimate up front (assuming it would be similar in price) and was shocked when I was charged 125.00 per unit for 5 units (That's a charge of 575.00 for about an hour of work). I understand that prices can go up year to year but this seemed outrageous, not to mention that the tech didn't even know the prices and had to call a manger to get them. The phone call was on speaker and the manager seemed to pull numbers from the air. "uhhhhh...i guess charge him 125.00 per unit....etc." When I called the office to contest the charges I was told that the previous year I received a special rate due to the HOA contracting the company to do the whole building (This special rate is not mentioned anywhere on my previous invoices). While I understand their perspective it still seems that the prices are extremely high for the labor hour, and that they probably should have quoted me the price over the phone (and I should have asked) especially knowing that I would likely be expecting the same rate if calling from the same complex. When I asked for a refund I was politely told "no" and that they would offer me some kind of undisclosed discount when I called them for my next job. I will not be calling, thank you
