I have been using My Handyman for the past few years to do repairs at my home. They are expensive but I'm willing to pay more for contractors who are insured and who guarantee their work. I had one technician who did all our work and I was very happy with him. However since he left the company our last experience with this company was a negative one. I'm limited in space here for my review. I asked the owner, Eric, if they could put new laminate over our existing laminate kitchen countertop rather than replace the entire countertop. I was told my old technician was no longer with the company. I was concerned with that but was assured that other technicians were just as capable of quality work. I wasn't going to do much for a backsplash around my countertop but was told about tiling "we can do that, that's easy". I had reservations about a new technician but again I was reassured. Then the hassle began. The new technician was not good at tiling. Granted we have an old house and the height between the countertop and the cabinets on either side of the sink did not have the same measurements so to make the design line up adjustments were needed. But before the tile was installed I told the owner that I wanted to be sure it was not going to be difficult and he kept reassuring me. The technician put a crack in the new laminate. He also took a black sharpie to fill in the edges so the color would blend (the laminate is a black marble style). He put tile on the sides of the cabinets by the cooktop where I previously had old laminate covering it. Again I was hesitant but was told it was a good idea and it would be easy. The lines of the pattern did not line up with the backwall and the top of the tile was cut 3/4" short. I was then told "you can't really see it". I complained and another technician came and I asked him to remove the tile from the sides of the cabinets by the cooktop. Now there is a gap in the tile on the backwall that I have to take care of myself. We were told they would redo the laminate where it is cracked but then we focused on the backsplash so that was forgotten. The last technician put the electric outlet covers back on and cracked the tile near one of the outlets and the edging is uneven (I believe that was the fault of the original technician with his cutting). This last technician left without saying he was done or telling us he was leaving even though both my husband and I were home. I sent Eric pictures and asked if they were done with the work as the caulking was not completed where the tile meets the countertop and to show him the crack in the tile by the outlet. He said he would check with the technician and get back to me. I didn't hear back from him for 4 days so I finally called him and he said he didn't see my text or the pictures. He said he could get a technician back out here. We paid $1600+ just for the countertop relaminate and backsplash around the cooktop (not including materials). They did come back and finish the rest of the backsplash as I said I wasn't paying anymore. If I didn't complain I would have been charged more hourly fees. What I will say to anyone looking to use this company: they are more of a handyman service. That is the name of their company but they advertise they can do larger jobs and remodels. For any major work I would look elsewhere. They charge professional fees with shoddy work if they don't have the right technicians. I was given lip service to placate my concerns. If they had staffing problems I wish they would have just told me. If you want to pay an average of $125 an hour for shoddy work, think it through. Take any responses to this review by Eric with a grain of salt. He's a good guy but I think he's having staffing issues. But to take chances with new technicians for what they charge in fees, be sure you know who is doing the work. I didn't want to write a review. I wanted to work with them but I was being ignored.

We love My Handyman! We recently moved in to a new home, and have had a lot of work done by My Handyman; we are incredibly happy with the jobs done and will use them again in the future and recommend them to anyone with a project in need. It was well worth the cost, not only because of the guarantee, but because of the quality work done that has made our new house feel like a home. The pictures attached show a before and after of our main living room wall. The room had a tall wall cabinet which held a TV, however, our TV was a different size, and we wanted it mounted on the wall. In two days My Handyman had the cabinet out and the wall completed. They painted the wall and mounted our TV, and as you can see from the after picture it looks amazing! We also needed the living room painted a different color, and the room is very large and spans both floors of the house, so it took a lot of work to paint the entire thing with two coats, and they even went back to take care of the 'spots' that showed up a day later! They were there when they said they would be, quoting was accurate, the work was clean and efficient, and we were so pleased we had them do more painting and fixes around our new house. I am certain we will call on them again. I only personally met Artie who was very professional and did good work, otherwise, we trusted them to be in and out of our house while we were not even there. We wanted to post this good review so folks looking for help could see that we recommend them! Thank you My Handyman, see you soon. :)
