Bought a home built by Monument in 2017. Nice looking house but quickly realized it was poorly built. Master bedroom above garage is dramatically hotter or colder than other rooms in the house because of no insulation. I have had many issues with the exhaust for the furnace. There is a loud thump noise any time the plumbing is used so we called a plumber. They informed us we have a back flow pressure issue due to cheap plumbing install when the house was built. This builder definitely hires the cheapest subcontractors to build the homes to cut on costs.

I bought a house from them a couple months ago and there are quite a few things wrong with it. First the roofers they used left tools on my roof. You can see the handle sticking out of my gutter where it’s lucky the gutter even caught it and not someone’s head. Then my gutter fell down damaging the lower gutter and they say damage from “storms” isn’t covered. Well when you looks it’s because whoever installed it never attached it at the top with anything, it was just dry fit. And make sure you run your sprinklers because apparently those aren’t covered even though they will tell you they are for the first time turning them on. They don’t believe in soundproofing either because I can hear my neighbors phone going off in the morning and there is also no soundproofing from the garage into the house. It sounds like people are working with the door open. I would expect these things from a used house, not a brand new one but I guess no one takes pride in their work any more.

New Home Build: We were excited to get into the process early, and looked forward to such an amazing life moment for all of us (family). However, when we noticed things that needed repair prior to closing (and were told to put blue tape on them and made a list to our/their realtor Cynthia Biggs), the things we were promised would be fixed, were not done by closing. This began our frustration.. We had so many issues that either took months to fix, we had to fix, or were not fixed at all. -The cement in basement had large cracks and we would not purchase until they were fixed. Cement on the driveway had to be completely removed and replaced due to immediate cracks. We are now seeing cement cracks across the steps and surface of the driveway and were told it is just "cosmetic". -When we moved in, the electricity in the master bath wouldn't work. We called Damien (Monument project coordinator) and she said she would add it to "the list" - things that needed to be done. We asked for their electrician's name and got it taken care of ourselves. -The kitchen lazy susan turntable was not installed properly and wouldn't move. This was mentioned on our list of items to fix before closing. After a month of living in the home, we decided to take it on ourselves to call Schrolls Cabinets. They came out free of charge and fixed the lazy susan and the two drawers that didn't close (due to poor installation). We are thankful to them. -We just paid a dishwasher repairman (Monument said it wasn't under warranty) to fix our dishwasher because it would not close properly to run it. The man that visited said he has been on many thousands of calls, and has never seen a washer just placed in, with nothing to hold it. He was shocked that they just put the unit in with nothing to hold it in place (no brackets). The unit simply tipped so we couldn't close the front. We paid him to install the brackets that normally would have been put in. -Our deck had many issues that our realtor agreed needed to be fixed. We were promised that the owner of the company would come out to look at it twice. He never showed up either time and Cynthia gave us excuses (COVID, not feeling well). We were left to deal with it on our own, and have hopefully found someone to help fix their mistakes. -We had many things that were not fixed until we spent so much time and energy to get Monument back in (several months after closing). We have the issues documented with dates and pictures - something no-one expects to have to do when dealing with the huge task of moving. -The person our realtor Cynthia Biggs (who wouldn't return calls timely after closing, and when she did had excuses why she didn't call for long periods) said we need to work with Monument directly on items after closing is Damien (project coordinator). Damien is a "NO" person who tells you what they won't do (not under warranty) and very little with what they will, after you close. I wish everyone who chooses to deal with Monument, a better experience than ours.
