  I admit this review is old as my experience with McCray was last year. I had originally decided to let it go until I was about run off the road by one of their trucks this morning. I called the. To replace a hot water heater. Their first (and only) visit, they showed up on time. However they said they would need to come back after they get a new estimate as they would need to bring me up to code. For 3 days I called and texted the lady who gave me the original estimate. Still waiting for a response. Of course I went with a better company. Garbage bag service.

  I left two stars because my first experience with McRae Plumbing was great. My second (and would have been third)-not so great at all. I had a service call for a clogged grinder pump. The technician cleared the debris/clog and discovered the electrical panel had burned up so advised me I needed to buy a new electrical board and have an electrician install it. I experienced sticker shock from this service call, especially after my previous experience. Within 3 days of him unclogging my pump I had the new electrical panel replaced. A few days later I had concerns and called to ask if I might have the technician call me so I could ask him a few questions so as to hopefully avoid another very costly service call (if it was unnecessary) and also try to prevent an emergency plumbing situation. I described my issues to the nice young woman in the office who relayed my concerns to the technician, and the young woman called me back and said he told her I probably needed a new pump. Nearly two weeks ago, on a Wednesday, I called and requested a service call as I was experiencing some issues. I was told a technician would call before coming. On Friday I called back and asked if I was scheduled. Again I was told yes, the technician would be in touch. Friday afternoon a technician was sent out, but he didn’t know anything about grinder pumps so he took the lid off my pump and left it loose, presumably so the waste could flow out. I was promised that the technician who did know about grinder pumps would be at my house the next day. That has now been 9 days ago and I have never heard a word from the technician or the company. Obviously I called another plumber, but not soon enough before I had sewage backed up into my house. (That emergency I was trying to avoid.) I understand everyone is busy and short staffed, but if they had just told me two weeks ago that they couldn’t or wouldn’t do my job, I would have called someone else much sooner. Very disappointed as I very much enjoy using small local community-based business.

  We had McRae Plumbing install our water heater tank. I was impressed that Steven McRae didn't try to sell us anything more than what we needed. When the two guys came out, Paul and Erin, they were on time, friendly, professional, and knew what they were doing. The only thing that is not working perfectly is that it takes a short while to get hot, but for the rest, everything is fine!
