I hate speaking poorly of local businesses especially because I know how detrimental it can be in a small town but if my experience can help one person, it will have been worth it. In October, I hired a local plumber to come out and fix a slow drain in my kitchen. They came on a Tuesday, charged me $200 saying it was fixed and left. It was not fixed so I called the next day. They came again and said it was fixed and left. It was not fixed. I called the next day and they sent two more people out. They were down in my basement for a bit and then just left. Next thing I know, Millers septic is here. They come in and tell me there’s going to be a “slight odor” for a little bit but other than that I get no other information. They’re downstairs for awhile then leave. I didn’t hear anything else so I finally called Lange and asked what was going on. The guy that answered the phone said I have a blockage believed to be tree roots and that just for the “work” they did, I owe them about $1300. He asked if I wanted Lange to come back and clear the blockage. So I’m already in debt $1500 and they haven’t even cleared the blockage?! Ok fine. I need my kitchen sink so I agree. They will be back out on Monday. They come, they reroute my pipe. They leave. Drain works. Hallelujah. $2000 later but at least my issue is resolved. Except I keep smelling something awful. Just having had knee surgery 2 weeks prior, I wasn’t able to go downstairs to see what was going on. A good friend came by and took some pictures for me. It seems Lange/Millers left a HUGE mess. So I call Lange the next business day and beg them to please make this right. Again I explain I just had knee surgery so I am not able to get downstairs let alone clean something like this up. They advise me to hire a cleaning company at my expense. I asked him if he would hire the cleaner and make this right but he responded with “No, I didn’t make the mess”. I then responded with “Neither did I!”. After some time and some back and forth he finally agrees to hire K & L cleaning services (I highly recommend K & L)when I tell him I am going to post photos on Facebook showing everyone how they leave their job site. I also told him that I was very concerned about my sump pump as a lot of the sludge and debris fell into the well and is covering the sump pump. He states if the pump does break to call him back and he will fix it free of charge. Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I go down into my basement and notice water on the basement floor and the sump pump completely submerged in water. I call Lange and expect him to honor his word. He agrees to come out and I think he’s keeping his word. I was so relieved. That is until I get a bill in the mail for $377.50. When I look at the bill, I see I am being charged for a replacement pump, trip charge, connections and labor FOR A PUMP THEY BROKE. I usually do not write bad reviews but for this, I will make an exception. Horrible service. Horrible communication. Extremely high priced. And to add insult to injury, they expect you to clean up after them. Never again.

    Response from the owner

Jennifer, on 10-12-21 we were called to unplug a kitchen drain and dishwasher that wouldn’t empty. The next day we came out cause the drain was still acting up. We found the main sewer in basement had backed up at this time, sewage was in the basement and in the sump. We then continued to rod it with large sewer machine and we’re not successful, we kept hitting something hard outside in the yard. We then called in another company to jet and clear the line so it would drain. We then found out that this house had multiple lines running outside and one had failed and caused the sewer to back up in the basement. When a line is failed the sewage has no where to go but back up into the basement. This is something caused by a failed pipe out in the yard not by Lange Plumbing or any other company. After the line was open we then gave you a estimate to fix the piping correctly so it would drain correctly without problems. That was on October 18th. You accepted the estimate and we proceeded with the work on October 25th. After everything was done we did pay a cleaning company to clean the basement. Even though the sewage that backed up was not caused by Lange Plumbing or any other company. It was caused by a failed pipe that had been installed 25 or more years ago. We then went out on Feb 21 2022 for a sump not working call. The sump that you refer to in your post was not even hooked up before. On Feb 21 We had to install a pump/check valve and 20’ of pipe just so the sump pump would pump water out. The pump you claim was broke due to sludge could have never worked in the first place. There was no drain pipe even hooked to it. It would have just pumped and sprayed water all over. Again all the issues you had with your plumbing were not caused by Lange Plumbing. The issue was a backed up sewer from a failed pipe out in the yard. That is why you agreed to the estimate and had us reroute piping downstairs.

Our home had to be winterized with very short notice. Lange responded quickly! The gentleman who came out was very knowledgeable and very thorough. I was very impressed with their customer service and response to our situation. Thank you very much!

Needed our well system to go underground and a new rough in for bathroom on our summer home. Started project in May.Cancelled twice, then finished part 1 in mid July. Said they would quote on part 2 . Waited another month and no response to phone calls. Into November, still no response.Clearly they know how to keep you on their schedule because there are few alternatives. No running water for 4 months and counting. Poor business practices.
