NEVER go through Home Depot for installations! Our flooring install couldn't be scheduled for over a month past when we needed it and were quoted by the Home Depot staff. When we first looked at the materials, we were actually told to come back and order later based on when we wanted it installed, which was a huge mistake. There is clearly very poor communication between Home Depot and their installers for the dates to be that far off. Going on the standby list did absolutely nothing. The material sat in our empty rental property that whole time, for over 7 weeks! This resulted in the job effectively costing us at least an extra month's rent, if not two months. I had to call the installers at least 8 times throughout the process because the communication was so terrible. When they didn't finish on the original day, I had no idea why and had to call, only to find out some of the materials from Home Depot were damaged. That added another 2 weeks until the last few pieces could be finished. Then when I went to return extra materials (due to poor measurements from Home Depot), it took 20 minutes because of some additional charge that was completely unknown to me and had to be resolved first. Start to finish, this simple flooring installation took almost 3 months! We will NEVER do any installation through Home Depot ever again.

While removing old siding on a customer's home, we uncovered a door that was installed previously by a home depot SUB CONTRACTOR. The door had an integral nail flange on it, but, the lazy SUB decided not to utilize it nor did he flash it at all ROT everywhere. Long story -short, the home depot finally sent the sub back to re- install. He did not. Instead, he lied to my customer and said that it wasn't a nail flange- it was a wind flange and it was fine. THEN IT GETS WORSE- home depot has told the customer to essentially "piss off" they are not going to pay to fix it or just fix it. This is why subcontracting is just a bad idea. P S these customers are among the finest that we have dealt with, not jerks at all.
