I've used geothermal specialists for years.  They are always been very responsive and complete service/maintenance promptly.

My family has used Geothermal Specialist for the past eight years. Steve and his crew are terrific! Whether it be routine maintenance or an emergency, they accommodate our schedule and get us taken care of quickly and efficiently. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I had to call them everyday to get someone out to put heat in my new house. Their lack of scheduling held up other parts of the process repeatedly.

They undersold the job by FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. After they had already done 90 percent of the work they let me know it would be costing three thousand more than quoted to put in a second zone for my second floor.

Now my children are having nosebleeds because the air in my house is so dry after getting the "upgrade" of a humidifier. Now they want to charge me another thousand to upgrade that humidifier to one that will actually work.

Update 10/19:
My AC would not switch back into heat mode, and Steve was reasonably quick in getting it fixed. It cost me $300 in electricity to run the emergency heat while he ordered the part, but he did not charge me for the warrantied issue.

Update 12/19:
Steve decided to give me a steam based humidifier, which is the one he wanted a $1000 for. He let me know he was doing it due to this review and because he got them for free. While this system works better than the original, it is setup to be limited to 45%, and since the system is installed in my crawl space, that means my house might get up to 40%. So even with this upgrade, I still have to run humidifiers in the bedrooms.

If a zero star was possible on Google, this would be a zero.
Geothermal Specialists contacted us in January 2018 to schedule an appointment for a Comfort Care Maintenance service that they recommended to us. Since we had previously used this company to provide repair service on our Geothermal Unit, we agreed to schedule the appointment.  A technician  was sent to our home on 3/6/18 and completed the $195 service . Minutes after the tech left, my husband noticed that the Geothermal unit was now leaking. He called the tech back to our house and after examining the leak, the tech explained that a chemical he flushed through the unit as a part of the maintenance process created the leak as the unit was very old and the chemicals were too harsh. He then recommended that we purchase a new unit ($11,000) to replace the old one, but if we were unable to do that, they could repair the leak for approx. $700 but it would be a week before someone could return to do it. We asked to speak with the owner, since this seemed unfair as their company encouraged and mislead us into receiving the service, and now the service had caused a leak that they were now asking us to pay an additional $700 to repair. On 3/6/18 we spent the night without heat, on 3/7/18 we called another company to repair the unit. The company that repaired the unit on 3/7/18 only charged us $250, compared to the $700 Geothermal Services wanted to charge to fix a leak they caused. The reader can do the math on that. After contacting the main office to request a refund for the $195  comfort care maintenance service, Steve, the owner of  Geothermal Specialists called me at 5 pm on 3/7/18 and would not take any accountability for the fact that their maintenance service initiated the leak on our unit. He then said he would issue a $195 refund, ONLY IF we agreed to sever ties with their company, call someone else to repair the leak they caused, and not share any negative feedback about their company online/ or otherwise. We of course didn't agree to that for a number of reasons, which should be obvious to most people. He then said he would no longer issue a refund since we could not agree to the terms he outlined. I filed a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's consumer protection office and the Better Business Bureau, both complaints are currently being investigated. I was not at all surprised to discover that this was not the first complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau on Geothermal Specialists.  We have never had to leave negative feedback on any company we have ever done business with, but this was the worst experience we've ever had with any company. After using this company's repair services for over 1 year, paying in full for each service, even if we felt the prices were inflated, we were very disappointed by the carelessness of the  recent service provided and the failed attempt by the owner Steve to intimidate us as if we have done something wrong.  This is why we made it a priority to share the long details of this experience, so the public can be informed.

We purchased our system 5 years ago, replacing an electric heat element style central furnace. The FHP Aqauarius II system has paid for itself in savings nearly 2 times over its cost and has performed flawlessly. The capacity, savings, installation, everything that was told to us during the sales portion of our purchase was accurately fulfilled.

Recently on a cold day we had an issue that needed to be reviewed, with one of the water valves. Geothermal Specialists came out the same day, remedied the issue in less than 10 minutes, then spent another 5 minutes explaining what had happened and how I could address it myself next time if I so desired. Then they left without charging me anything! I have recommended this company to others and will continue to do so. The people and the equipment have been good to live with.

Great company, called the company up and they had Paul come out to do maintenance on our unit. He gave me loads of information on how to keep our unit running and what problems to look out for. I tried looking up info online about geothermal, but the techs can teach and show you so much and actually make you confident about looking out for problems that could come up. Their prices are fair, their people are so nice from the receptionist to the techs. I will definitely use them in the future.

We were without heat so called to have someone come out to service our unit and do the maintenance. We were given an appointment window between 12-3pm. At 4pm after no one had arrived, I placed a call to the company. The woman I spoke with unapologetically said the technician was probably just running late and should call when he’s within 30 minutes of arrival. So not only was he already an hour late, apparently he wasn’t going to be there even within the next 30 minutes. At 5pm and still no technician, I placed another call and spoke with a very nice lady who was very apologetic and asked what the issue was with the unit. When I told her that we had been without heat for days she said she would send a message to a technician that it was an emergency. We then received a call from the technician, who happened to be the owner, who said the three jobs before us set his day back and that he could come out tomorrow afternoon. We explained that we’ve been without heat and would like to have this fixed today. At 7pm the owner said he could send someone out and that it would be a $200 service charge and $250 for the maintenance on the unit. I asked if the $200 service charge was an after hours charge and he said it was not but part of that charge was because we were 9 months past due on the maintenance. I asked the owner if the maintenance would take care of he heat issue. He explained that part of the maintenance was running chemicals through the lines and he’d bet that would take care of the issue. When the technician, Andrew, finally arrived, shortly after 8pm he was extremely friendly and apologetic.  He checked the flow meter and realized that the last time the company was out they must have been missing a part because it was rigged. He replaced that part, checked all the wire connections, replaced the air filter and turned on the water shut off valve. After he was done he said he was going to place a call to the owner to see if there was anything he could do to lower the price (probably because he knew they didn’t do the full maintenance) but the owner said the price was still going to be $450. I feel as though this company doesn’t care much about their customers. It’s very poor customer service to not show up in your appointment window and then not even give a courtesy call to explain the delay. Then to come out and do half the job you were supposed to do (because now sooner than later we will need that chemical flush and I’m sure it will cost another $450) and charge full price. I’m baffled and will probably go elsewhere for my geothermal needs.

When the geothermal cooling in my dad's old house stopped working I called all over for help.  I found a place in Lafayette that handles geothermal but they were booked out a week.  I happened across a Geothermal Specialist sign along the road and called.  Steve came out the next day.  I was impressed by his knowledge, tools, and supplies.  He did a thorough job of addressing both of the problems in the system and he gave me valuable technical explanations that clearly showed his experience with such systems.

I would not recommend this company they overcharged us, we had to call another company to fix their work, and the owner was rude.

We are totally confused at Geothermal Specialist. We have no record of receiving a request for service from any Robert J for the last 3 months and have no customer in our database that matches a Robert J. As the owner, I would respond that those who know my character and demeanor, I am non confrontational and have no recollection in the past several months of having occasion to even be direct with a customer. Regarding our charges- we specialize on Geothermal systems and have a business model that offers fair pricing at an excellent value for our services. We are left to conclude this is a fraudulent post!
