  I called Carey Plumbing for an issue with a gas line. A simple fix that required a few feet of pipe for a gas dryer. They came out promptly and got back to me with a price of $1,200.00 & $2,000.00 to slightly move the entire line. I decided to get another quote. I called Gary McCabe, he came the same day & charged me $325.00, he was done in 45 minutes. I don't know the reasoning for Carey being 4x and 5x the price.

  Hello JS, Glad you found a better price with Gary McCabe he is a great guy, i always recommend to get 3 prices. When estimating a job we think of the worst case scenario so that you don't have any surprises in price later. Since central hudson had shut down your system i was prepared with the $1200 estimate to do a full system pressure test and submit the results of that test, meet with central hudson on site and pull any necessary permits, and we planed to re run about 12' of black iron pipe. The $2000 quote was to re plumb the whole gas distribution system since it was really not installed properly. So if all we ended up doing was extending that pipe then our price would have been similar in the end. Sorry for the confusion, i usuallly write out detailed estimates but in your case i was in a bit of a rush since you did not have a working dryer. - Dan
