  We are new to the area and a neighbor told us that this is the main and probably only hardware store in the west side of Fairmont. We needed a few various things for moving in, from cleaning supplies to a furnace filter to some wood and peg board for shelving and organizing to some paint. Called first to see what was available and check pricing. A man named Chris answered the phone and answered all our questions, even giving us comparison prices on similar items in the store and explaining in detail the different particulate levels on furnace filters. I could tell that other workers were interrupting him constantly to ask him questions for other customers but he was patient with them and patient with us. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Fast forward to our store visit, Chris was mixing paint for another customer but greeted us immediately. He remembered the phone call and offered to mix our paint for us and then show us around the store to our other items. Everything was exactly as he had described it on the phone and again, he helped us while assisting other workers and customers also. Just absolutely outstanding customer service from this man. Makes you feel like you’re in a 1970s mom and pop hardware store instead of a chain in 2021. He walked us up to the counter and asked the cashier to sign my wife up for one of the store’s loyalty cards, which we plan to use often. This store is one of the first gems we have encountered in our new home.

  Special ordered fence pickets. They came in much faster than the manager, Chris, promised that they would. Very professional staff that was able to get exactly what I needed after I brought in a picture from Home Depot, who had told me this order would take 8 weeks. Busy Beaver had it in 2 after promising 4. Something to be said for local service and attention to customer needs.

  Ordered window replacement panel in August. After weeks of calling for updates finally got a delivery of 10/14. Called 10/15 to see if it had arrived and I was told the manager was out and they couldn’t tell me, they went on to say manager wouldn’t be back in until Monday. I asked if there was anyone else that could help me and they said no. I asked if they could call someone since it is supposed to be lows in the 40s and still no. So I said basically I’m SOL and the response was yea I guess so. The reason I gave them 2 stars was because I didn’t have to deal with this on the original order of the windows. That’s another story - ordered new construction windows and they put it in as replacement windows. They did make it right but was a delay for sure. Very irritating that no one can just tell you if an item you ordered and have been waiting on for 7 weeks is in so you can pick it up. Also got all my toilets, fixtures, T1-11 and several other items from them trying to support a local business. I’m sad to say will be going elsewhere going forward. Not that one person matters to them but did by several trailer loads of stuff off them since they have opened. ** ordering process was great - follow up service and ease of getting items is very subpar. I can’t say if it is the right window or not because that’s delayed until Monday I guess.**
