These guys were a waste of time and money. Came out to the house to try to figure out where a water mark on the ceiling of one of my first floor rooms was coming from. Tech spent 45 minutes at the house, a large portion of which was ON THE PHONE, just to come back and say he couldn't figure it out, it must be the roof, and then charge us 225 dollars. No explaination as to why I don't see water on the second floor and the attic is dry, no indication on the roof as to where the leak is, nothing, just simply the fact that they don't detect leaks coming from roofs. When I called later to ask what kind of leaks they CAN detect, they said "plumbing and other intrusion". I don't know what other intrusion is, other than the roof, but apparently if you don't have an obviously leaky pipe, these guys can't figure it out, but will happily charge you to shrug their shoulders. Hire someone who can actually detect a leak. Bonus picture of the tech spending time on the phone rather than doing his job. EDITED FOR REPLY: I mean, you're kind of proving my point for me; if you knew that the leak happened during the rain and you also knew that you couldn't "replicate a rainstorm", isn't it dishonest to charge someone to attempt to detect a leak you already knew you couldn't detect? Just asking for you to be a professional and say it's out of your league, that's all.

Called American Leak Detection because they were recommended by the company that replaced my hot water heater. I asked if they could recommend someone else because I checked their reviews first, not reads, but was told that is the only company they could recommend. They came out on time and “detected” the leak. When the plumbers arrived to fix the leak, there were no pipes in the location they detected. Called them back and was told that the technician should have told me that this was an approximation within three feet of the leak. He did not and nowhere in their paperwork was this revealed. The technician came out again with the plumbers already waiting. He “detected” the leak again. Plumbers dug again but no pipes. The plumbers actually had a camera to snake under the slab and surprise the leak was in the opposite direction. Do not waste your time and money on this company.

The leak detection side of their offerings was fine. However, I made the mistake of hiring them for their plumbing. Their plumber found the most roundabout, expensive way to resolve the issue and turned a $400-$500 fix into a $2500 fix. Even once it was fixed, it started leaking again a few weeks later. This was supposed to be covered by my warranty, but they wanted more money.I ended up paying another $250 so they would do the fixe the way it should’ve been done in the first place. If you use them to find your leak, do not under any circumstances hire them to fix anything.
