I requested an estimate be completed at my parents residence for refrigerated air. The employee who came out, was rude, judgmental and treated us as if we couldn’t afford the job. He never sent me the estimate. And the estimate was completed about a month ago. Well I ended up going with TLC. This company lost business. Poor service. Would not recommend

These people were amazing.  They replaced my 84 year old fathers refrigerated air system. They were kind, patient and very attentive.  So many services and construction companies are so unreliable these days.  It was refreshing to see a company that was right on with everything.  Thank you for your professionalism and over the top customer service.

Derick and Bill replaced my 18 year old water heater with a tankless water heater.  Derick spent quite a bit of time researching to find the correct water heater that would work with our existing gas lines and house size. There was a lot refitting and new piping.  They did an excellent job!  They were very professional, polite and neat. There was an adjustment that had to be made after they left and Derick came back and fixed the problem and the water heater and recirculating feature work great.  There pricing was very fair.  I will use Academy for all my future plumbing needs.

They serviced my heating system last winter and I was so impressed by their professionalism.  Next I had a plumbing problem.   They came to my aide and again I was impressed.  I had no reservations calling them to install new ceiling fans.  Another great job at a very reasonable price.  Two thumbs up to this company.

The professional who worked on our A/C was knowledgeable and helpful.  He worked to order a part still under warranty to keep our out of pocket price down.  In another home, the guy in charge of installing evaporative cooler was honest, fair, and followed up to make sure everything worked well.  Also, assisted with rebate.  Great company!

First time for us to use Academy , and we highly recommend them . They were pleasant to deal with ,and had our furnace running in no time. Phillip our tech. was very professional and knowledgeable. Their price was very reasonable and fair. We will use them again.

My wife and I have been customers of Academy for several years, and we have had them in our home for jobs ranging from starting up our swamp cooler to the installation of lighting fixtures. Every time we have interacted with members of the company, we have been treated in a very polite and professional manor, and I especially appreciate that they have consistency shown up on time for scheduled appointments. This year, our swamp cooler was especially troublesome, and it seemed like any way that the system could fail it did. Academy worked with us every step of the way to make sure that we got the cooler operational, up to and including having a technician come to our house for an hour on a weekend day on a warranty repair job. I am very appreciate of the high level of responsiveness and service Academy provided during this time. We will absolutely be using Academy for our future electrical and plumbing needs, and look forward to having them work with us as we continue to update our home.

Academy overcharges for their parts (gas valve-notice below at the other review)!  Our heater is older but found another company (Simmons) with the same part that was reasonably priced. When I told the technician I would try to get the part on line, he put the 'old' part behind the panel unattached and hurried out the door....I ran and got him to take the part out behind the panel. Simmon's mentioned how unprofessional they were by just leaving it unattached. He didn't have enough time to reattach it and test the gas valve to see if it REALLY was the problem. Academy said we'd need a transformer too. The other guy tested it and it was fine.  Simmon's staff were courteous, explained the problem by showing and troubleshooting. The heater is working VERY WELL!!! My elderly mom has used Academy in the past....by looking at the bills they took advantage. They lost us as customers!

We are sorry to see you go. We’ve gone out of our way for your mom year in and year out, helping her set and read her thermostat and taking care of her service needs. We can’t speak for other companies, but we would never bad mouth a competitor to a customer like this. You all told us that you were going to order the part online, so we left the old one for reference. The heater was not going to operate until the part was replaced. We never like to lose a customer, but your review is mis-representative of what happened. We will be flagging it for the conflict of interest of naming a competitor which is a violation of their terms of service.

The technician who came was professional enough in technical expertise at first but by the end of the experience I felt scammed. My main concern was 1. Not getting my issue fixed while also being dramatically over charged for r410a (AC coolant). Specifically, I researched approximate cost of r410a online after the fact and found out it costs about $4.32 USD/pound. I was charged over $50/pound. Ultimately I expect some significant upcharge over $5 but over 1000% is completly BS. The technician also forgot this coolant at first and had to go back which I have no doubt he charged time and labor for. He was deceptive since he didnt state what costs would be for labor or materials were upfront. In other words, he showed me the charges after he performed the work which was minimal since I sat and watched him work. All he really did was pump 5 pounds of coolant and charged me $420. My AC doesn't keep up when I have a commercial sized unit for a smaller townhouse (about 1400 sqft). My overall impression is that his total analysis was wrong and that labor for coolant was the easiest way to overcharge me with an expected call back to them to repair again. I do not recommend this service. Lastly for the record, I hired Marty McKee. He recognized it was more an airflow issue (which in also mentioned to Academy), and that fixed the issue for a fraction of what academy charged me.

Mr. Morris. We are sorry that you were not happy with our service. We would refer you to the EPA regarding r410a. https://www.epa.gov/section608/refrigerant-sales-restriction  Only licensed businesses are allowed to resell and apply the product. So your pricing evaluation is mis-representative. You are slandering the character of our employee without evidence and mis-characterizing the work that was done. Troubleshooting a device is never an exact endeavor. However, a unit without the proper coolant level won’t cool anything. We can not speak to other companies, but if you would have just called us back, we could have helped you finish solving the problem. We are glad you got the problem fixed to your liking, but due to the unwarranted claims we have flagged your comment for moderation.

Thank you again...Bill was professional and was on top of things very quickly. The power outage in both my bathrooms was diagnosed while giving me reasons how and why it happened. I'm a first time customer and see no reason why I wont call them again if the need arises.

I was very happy with Phillip for our furnace issue, he came in and no non-sense determined the issue, got the parts needed and had me up in running in a couple hours time once the parts arrived and answered extra questions I had. I don't feel like I was overcharged. Thank you academy plumbing. Will come to you again.

First time user with Academy Plumbing Heating & AC.  After having several estimates done by several companies, I decided to go with Academy because of the price, very reasonable with their competitors being higher.  Installers were very professional, arrived earlier, and work was completed on time.  They explained how the unit works and what to do on humid days.  Took away old unit, and ensured area was cleaned up.

Derrick was extremely helpful and provided information to troubleshoot my furnace over the phone. Very kind, and customer-oriented people, will definitely use in the future. Highly recommend

This place is local, friendly family staff and most importantly has the products you need to make home repairs with great MSRP pricing on random item most do not stock. They were able to stock rare items, have their driver bring to the shop from their warehouse (without stocking fee), and be able to compete with the internet pricing. All the other companies in Albuquerque that may have been able to get the part inflated their prices over 150% marked and did not have it available same day. Academy Plumbing and Heating is the only place in the greater Albuquerque area that I trust. They provided knowledge and was great working with them all. Highly recommended for our family will not go anywhere else.

Came to give me a estimate to switch to refrigerated air after 30 minutes looking it over they called with a esimate..o wait, they told me they could not fit the unit in the current heater closet. The other three contractors didn't even flinch when seeing it. Move on to someone else.

I called Academy to switch over the cooler and check the furance. After the tech left, the furance would not turn on. My tenant called to have them comeback and check out the furance. A tech came back twice to fix the problem. I received a bill in the mail for a 700 dollar service call. The repair cost was never discussed with the tenant and i was never consulted to approve the cost. Completely unprofessional. Ill be contacting the BBB on this incident.

We are sorry you had a bad experience. Our records indicate that we replaced a gas valve that was a large part of the expense. The technician was called back about the heater after the initial service call. The tenant had authorized the repair of the valve which required an expensive part and two hours of labor.
