  We were having sewer water back up in the basement during a severe rain storm. The back up was pretty bad this time around so we decided to call in a professional plumber. Once on the property we told him our problem and he proceeded to Snake the lateral drain pipe going out to the city main sewer line. After the lateral drain was snaked he discovered no problems while retracting the snake line. He also tried to open up the footer line to the main drain in the basement to no-avail. His final analysis was that the city Storm sewer pipes cannot handle a torrential downfall of rain over Flow.
