  Lee’s Rental company is run by a SLUM LORD!!! Do not waste your time or money. I relocated to Hibbing from another state and immediately put my deposit down on a two bedroom apartment. After doing the walk through and seeing how horrible condition the unit was in, they prompted me to write a list of things to be repaired. I have a 3 month old so the old disgusting smelly carpets and the water damage on the ceilings have been my main focus. I was told in a very rude manner by RICH the owner, that he would NOT change out the carpets. I then asked could they atleast be cleaned since the apartment reeks of mildew and must. He then rudely told me that he will not clean or change out the carpets, nor would he have the apartment cleaned for my move in and there is nothing he can do.!! Since when do you have to move into a dirty apartment!! How UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISGUSTING!!! The toilet is leaking at the bottom and the water damage on the ceiling in my bedroom was not fixed, just spray painted. When I mentioned that the apartment SHOULD be cleaned to my liking per HIS LEASE, he said nothing would be done and there is nothing he can do and if I do not like it then someone else would gladly move in. Which is NOT true because everyone in the building says they didn’t want the unit because it is gross!!! I was supposed to move in on the first, didn’t get in here until yesterday(11.2.18) and it is so disgusting!! On top of all of this the heat does NOT WORK!!! I keep telling him and he just makes excuses and someone actually told me that the heat does work he is just sorry it’s not warm enough for me!!! We are in St. Louis county, 90 miles from Canada and it is cold all day and even colder at night! How disrespectful! Not to mention I have a child!!! He is NOT honoring the lease I signed, where it clearly states that he will get the apartment in livable conditions per my request! He has given me an extremely hard time since I have been dealing with him and I honestly believe it’s because I am a black woman!! I woke up this morning feeling symptoms of mold exposure. I do not know what to do because unfortunately this man owns Majority of the property in this tiny town of Hibbing. I can tell that my son also does not feel well.
